Iced Matcha Latte

Ingredients
  

Matcha Base
  • 2 tsp Japanese matcha tea (ceremonial grade) sifted for smooth blending
  • 1.5 tbsp hot water not boiling (~175°F/80°C)
  • 1 cup cold water filtered, adjust for strength
Latte Assembly
  • 1.5 cups milk of choice e.g., oat, almond, soy, or dairy
  • 2 cups ice cubes 1 generous cup per glass
  • 2 tsp sweetener (optional) e.g., honey, maple syrup, or simple syrup

  • Matcha Whisk (Chasen) or Small Whisk

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, add sifted matcha and pour in hot water. Whisk briskly in a 'W' motion until frothy and smooth.

  2. Add cold water and whisk again until fully combined. Chill in fridge or freezer for 10–15 minutes if time allows.

  3. Fill two glasses with ice. Pour in milk of choice, then top with chilled matcha mixture. Add sweetener to taste.

  4. Stir gently for a layered look or mix completely. Garnish with a sprinkle of matcha if desired.

Notes

Use ceremonial-grade matcha for best results. For vegan or low-calorie versions, choose unsweetened plant-based milk and natural sweeteners. Avoid boiling water to prevent bitterness.
