Ingredients

Matcha Base
  • 1 tsp ceremonial-grade matcha powder sifted to avoid clumps
  • 3 tbsp hot water at 175°F / 80°C
  • 1-2 tbsp sweetener of choice e.g., honey, maple syrup, agave, or stevia
Milk & Boba
  • 1 cup milk of choice dairy or plant-based
  • 1/2 cup cooked boba pearls kept warm in simple syrup
  • ice cubes optional, for iced version

Equipment

  • Bamboo Whisk or Milk Frother
  • Small Bowl
  • Tall Glass
  • Wide Boba Straw

Method

  1. Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to remove clumps. Add hot water and whisk vigorously in a zig-zag motion until smooth and frothy.
Layered iced matcha latte with boba at the bottom and ice cubes floating on top.
  2. Stir in your preferred sweetener while matcha is warm to dissolve easily. For iced version, let cool then refrigerate or use matcha ice cubes.

Notes

Make it your own: try flavored syrups, protein powder, or coconut milk. Use matcha ice cubes to avoid dilution. Best enjoyed fresh. Store matcha base up to 24 hrs refrigerated. Avoid refrigerating boba.
